Holidays on the Norfolk Broads

Starting
from Wroxham, a bustling village with good shopping facilities,
pubs and restaurants, you can head off upstream through woodland on each
bank; stangely enclosed, but full of interest, until you get to Belaugh
where the countryside opens up as the river meanders through a shallow
valley to coltishall and its lovely green. We also feature boats based at Potter Heigham, which allows you visit the delights of Hickling Broad and Horsey Mere as well as the rivers Thurne and Bure. Click on the links below for more information. The Northern Rivers The River Bure is navigable for 59km and flows from Coltishall to Great Yarmouth, where it joins the River Yare. The wooded banks of the upper reaches give way to fens fringed with reeds and grassy meadows. The River Ant, a tributary of the River Bure is narrow, shallow and twisting and leads to more remote areas of the Broads. The River Thurne, another tributary of the Bure has a fascinating flatness; it is surrounded by almost treeless meadows dotted with windmills. The Southern Rivers The River Waveney flows for 35km from Beccles north east to the River Yare through beautiful countryside. The River Yare flows from Norwich through hilly and beautifully wooded banks, not unlike the upper Thames. In its lower reaches it passes through wonderful fens and marshes. |
