They now have four bases spread around the canal system. Alvechurch itself, is in a North Worcestershire village tucked between the Lickey Hills and the forest of Arden. from here you can cruise the popular Stourport Ring in a week. two weeks allows you to expand your horizons and cruise to Gloucester, or undertake the pretty Avon Ring. Anderton on the Cheshire plain, is easily located by canal aficionados as being close to the site of the historic Andeton Boat Lift (currently under restoration). Cruises from here include runs to Chester, with its ancient walls, buildings and well known zoo, Ellesmere Port with its boat museum, or Wigan, home to the famour pier and restored mills. Gayton is situated in a picturesque basin on top of the remote and rolling Northamptonshire uplands. There are a number of facinating trips from here including the East Counties Ring, or along the rural and winding canal to Oxford, the Grand Union Canal towards Stoke Bruerne (and its renown National Canal Museum), Aylesbury and the Chiltern Hills, or the River Nene to Peterborough. Finally there is the base at Wrenbury Mill, on the Llangollen Canal close to the Welsh borders. From here you can choose to cruise either Westwards to Llangollen crossing the massive aqueducts, or Eastwards towards the historic town of Chester. They also can offer a few 'One-wayCruises' between bases by arrangement. |
